The Italian ceramic industry's world leadership position is not limited only to the production but includes to a commitment to achieving extremely low levels of environmental impact and fully respecting the ecological equilibrium.
This is also aim of “SETTECENTO – Mosaici e Ceramiche D’Arte”, Company associated to “Confindustria Ceramica”. It has been a full commitment of The Italian Tile Association over the past decade to shift towards sustainable development projects through integrated and comprehensive standards and regulations (ISO 14001 and EMAS Regulation) that take account of the causes of environmental impact and the tools to be used for preventing or at least minimising it.
EMAS and ISO 14001 are the internationally recognised standards certifying management quality with regard to the established environmental indicators.
Gas emissions and water and energy consumption are monitored and reduced by means of innovative measures and technologies, associated principally with advanced plant engineering. Purifiers, waste water recycling systems and new production technologies have significantly reduced polluting emissions and consumption of both energy and water with significant results in terms of “Zero environmental impact”.
